Rendering Specialist
The Kirkley Health Centre
R&B Plastering have become very used to dealing with unique projects, especially with today's architecture where the boundaries of design are being explored.
The Kirkley Heath Centre is certainly a feat of engineering and design and required a specialist approach to insulated rendering of the circular tower, and the internal lobby entrance. The structure was a form of cross-laminated timber construction to give the impression of a 'windmill in its finished form, perfectly emulated by the circular entrance lobby. This was certainly a challenge for R&B Plastering, and although designed originally to take preformed insulation, in reality, this was not the case due to the tapering of the building.
R&B were commissioned as a specialist contractor by Kier Construction to look at an alternative method of insulating the tower, which of course due to the unusual shape presented us with a unique challenge. Our tradesman set about forming the shape for the tower, and because of our experienced craftsmen, we were able to produce a fabulous finished project.
Both the client (NHS) and Kier were extremely complementary and happy with the work our team produced, and the imposing and impressive tower forms the main feature of the Kirkley Health Centre building in Lowestoft.
A superb project for R&B Plastering and one we are extremely proud of.
